John Lennon Essay Paper John LennonJohn Lennon was a great song writer and musician. He played the rhythmguitar, the piano, and sang. He was in the most popular group in the history ofrock music. In 1959, John founded this group, called The Beatles. The original Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison,and Pete Best. Brian Epstein became the manager of the Beatles in 1961. Epstein mademany changes in the group. John rebelled and did not want to package andclean up the group in order to please fans. These changes were made anywaydespite Johns protests. The Beatles had signed a contract with EMI records and were beginning torecord with them. On August 16, 1962, Pete Best, the drummer was suddenly firedfrom the group. Ringo Starr was inducted into the Beatles two days after Bestwas fired. John Lennon and Paul McCartney shared the credit of songs written byeither one of them. The credit simply read Lennon-McCartney. The two as songwriters were a perfect mix. John had a quick artistic sense and he was easilyexcited by new challenges, he projected a sarcastic and rebellious tough-guypersonality, who was actually a vulnerable romantic. While Paul projected thesweet image and who was underneath an injured, controlling, perfectionist. By 1964, The Beatles arrived at JFK Airport. They were greeted withmass hysteria. Two days later, more than 73 million people watched them performlive on the Ed Sullivan Show. Four weeks later, The Beatles held the top fivemusic singles in America at the same time. John was influenced by many things in 1965-1966 such as psychedelia,marijuana, and Bob Dylan. Many felt that these years were the best song writingyears of John Lennons life. 1966The Beatles had been touring for over four years, and they,especially John were tired of it. John wanted to spend more time with his wife,Cynthia, and his song, Julian. At one time, they had to do 32 concerts in 19days. On their next album, Beatles For Sale, the material reflected how unhappyJohn and Paul were with life on the road. Songs like Im a Loser and NoReply spoke of depression and the frenzy of life in the spotlight. John oncesaid, Its like were four freaks being wheeled out to be seen, shake our hairabout, and get back into our cage afterwards.The Beatles felt that they needed to work only in the studio now. So,on August 29, 1966, The Beatles performed their last live performance ever atCandlestick Park in San Francisco, California. Almost a year later, Brian Epstein, the Beatles Manager was found deadin his apartment of a suicidal overdose. This caused many problems for thegroup. John later admitted that The Beatles were finished when Eppy died. Iknew, deep inside me, that that was it, without him, wed had it.John met a Japanese artist name Yoko Ono in 1967. In just a few weeks,the two were inseparable. This new relationship destroyed Johns marriage withCynthia and eventually destroyed his relationship with Paul McCartney, and theother Beatles. After Johns divorce from Cynthia, John Winston Lennon changedhis name to John Ono Lennon in honor of Yoko Ono. He insisted on usingJOHNANDYOKO as his official signature and identity. John and Yoko weremarried in the year of 1969. John released his first solo single in 1969, Give Peace a Chance. Hedid not credit this song to Lennon-McCartney, but to The Plastic Ono Band.On April 10, 1970, Paul McCartney resigned from the Beatles. Bauer Montero, (20010; Fantini, (1985); McClure, (1977); Saunders,( 1982) have studied the behavior of such children and their findings reveal that the cognitive requirements of the task and the contextual demands like participants and topics influence the bilingual children to switch languages (Ruan, 2003). Sociolinguistic studies reveal that although code switching performs important communicative functions, most educators are unaware about its nature and functions in educational settings. Code switching has long been thought to be stigmatized in education (Crowl and MacGinitie, 1974; Lara, 1989; Ramirez Milk; 1986). Code switching has been identified as a deficiency of the bi linguals who are not well developed in either language that they use (Myers-Scotton:1993) Not much emphasis has been placed on the simultaneous development of the two languages in bilingual children by the educationists. Her sense of the status of interlocutors led to her motivation to switchâ⬠(Ruan, 2003). ââ¬Å"While referring to the subjects taught in the Chinese scho ol, Lingling was more likely to use Chinese than Englishâ⬠(Ruan, 2003). She switched from English to Chinese when she talked to her friend about her WU Shu class (Chinese Martial Art ) (Ruan, 2003). ââ¬Å"Lingling: I need to go to wu shu ke. (I need to go to Wu Shu class). Di: Yeah, punching and kicking people.â⬠(Ruan, 2003). To Lingling, Wu Shu was a Chinese topic, and it was unlikely and inconvenient for her to translate it into its corresponding English term (Ruan, 2003). ââ¬Å"When she talked to her classmate Kai about the most popular toys her awareness of culture-related topics was also obvious. At the time of the study many conversations were about Pokemons. In the following conversation her awareness of culture-specific topics is evidentâ⬠(Ruan, 2003). The conversation started out in Chinese, but Pokemon characters prompted the switch to English (Ruan, 2003). ââ¬Å"Meilun: Lingling, ni hua shen me? (Lingling, what are you drawing?) Moreover, code switching was frequently used as a metalinguistic device by the Chinese teacher and the children to expand and monitor teaching and learning (Ruan, 2003). ââ¬Å"The new and complex concepts were often explained in both the languages by the teacher to ensure that the students had understood the conceptsâ⬠(Ruan, 2003). The children in turn followed the same behavior (Ruan, 2003). Linglingââ¬â¢s verbal exchange with her teacher during a lesson on garden facilitates this finding (Ruan, 2003). ââ¬Å"Teacher: Lingling, shen me shi hua yuan? (Lingling, what is hua yuan?) (Hua yuan has lots of flowers, is garden.)â⬠(Ruan, 2003). ââ¬Å"This study suggests that as with bilingual adults, code switching is employed as communicative devices by bilingual children. Young bilingual Chinese/English children applied code- switching during their speech in order to realize different functions, such as social function, pragmatic function, and meta-linguistic functionâ⬠(Ruan, 2003). The findings suggest that code switching should not be considered a sign of bilingual childrenââ¬â¢s English language learning abilities. ââ¬Å"They should not be discriminated if they engage in code switching behaviorsâ⬠(Ruan, 2003). The children can improve their literacy through using their own linguistic ââ¬Å"funds of knowledgeâ⬠(Moll, 1992) (Ruan, 2003). There is a need for more studies on code switching. It will enable the educators to acquire a better understanding of how bilingual children use languages and learn through languages (Ruan, 2003). The other problem faced would be the loads of people who have attained degrees can neither get their graduate jobs or are get payment lower than they are entitled to. The graduates also may earn less than those that stopped their education at the A levels or even earlier. A recent survey in t he U.K has shown that many of the employers have increased their demand of skilled workers rather than the graduates. It has been projected that skilled employees have more efficient and impressive work than the graduates themselves who are backed with certificates and credentials, but do not have enough skills needed for the work itself. In the government reviews recently, in 2006, the number of skilled workers has substantially increased from one out of five in the year 1984 to at least 27 % in the year 2004 and is still showing an increase to date as projected (Vignoles, 2008). The trend reassures and shows that there is room in the job market available to accommodate more and more skilled workers and graduates even with the increase in numbers. Considering the world, we are heading in even economists project that there would be a higher demand for skilled workers rather than the graduates themselves in the future. In addition, the need for the skilled workers is also taking a to ll in the higher increase. This can act as a re-assurance for the people considering joining higher-level education or not. Surveys, however, tend to give graduates a bad vibe. The works say that graduates have in the recent past seen a decrease in their relative earnings. Comparing a graduate and a person that stopped their education at their A levels, but has enough skills; the latter earns a slightly higher earnings of about 30% more than the former. Where we might be reaching, degrees may be losing their value. Other evidences support such worries that around one third of graduates fail to get a graduate level-job. However, not all graduates struggle to find jobs. Some degrees are able to achieve much higher wage premiums than others. There is a huge and large variation of earnings of graduates with people. With that said, the major and industry a student happens to choose ultimately has an enormous impact on the earnings they are going to get in the future. Strategy is important to be followed in the organization for the systematic and accurate achievement of the companys objective, so I will follow the following strategies. FUNCTIONAL IMPROVEMENT STRATEGY Delivers functional competence- in a solitarily practical area, the administration of the operations in process is attended by the CEO of the company who develops the operations through balancing the build-to-order in a make-to-stock milieu so that the requirements of the customers can be met on time decreasing the lead-time and prolonging the production. Customer service and (Brickley, J. A, 2003,pp.227-233) satisfaction and the prosperity of the business are essential to be balanced. It is very important for me to have operational improvement because VISION of my company is we want the process to be quick, hassle-free and cost-effective. We know youll be more impressed by an advertising campaign that gets your products flying out the door. Our success is based on our ability to design innovative campaigns (Engel, E., R. M, 2003,pp. 197-226) that help our clients stand out in a crowded marketplace. We also aim to keep in mind the fundamental values a company holds. This is the most important functional strategy because there is need to make improvement wherever the need is required in the areas of weakness of the company that is the most effective and efficient method of performance improvement for the company. FUNCTIONAL EXCELLENCE Delivers business competitiveness-in order to accomplish the best presentation, the interior (Engel, E., R. M,2003,pp. 197-226) procedures of the company are to be renovated with the brilliance in the operations. The best in rank is described by the outside information. The company decides the foundation of competition and then the crack between the competition and the actual performance is assessed and precedence is allocated. A harmonized course of modification, coordination and presentation development is required (Brickley, J. A, 2003,pp.227-233) to fill up the crack through many functions. In the operational approach, its brilliance and intensity is the core constituent. I have to have a consistent look on the excellence on the operation of the company, it is very challenging job for me because all board members will be involved in knowing the operational excellence achievement of the Brainz Inc. Functional excellence in what all methods can be achieved can be easily know through distinctive functions of the organization, that is again the biggest challenge for me because our focus is more on ignition of brands. FUNCTIONAL INNOVATION Delivers each and every new (Engel, E., R. M, 2003,pp. 197-226) company on a bare page creates a commanding, game-changing operational mode-an equipped representation. The company employs a differential model or the standard one. There are three causes for the new ventures to open. The effect of each cause is different on the creativity of operational models. Commodity technology product or commodity service basis: in this the Brainz Inc. is most likely to employ the standard operational model, since the cost the proposal of gain over cost is there (Sapienza, H. J, 1994,pp.1618-163) New technology: in this the excellence in the technology is the proposed assessment; therefore the Brainz Inc. will make sure that the employment of the prevailing standard operational model. Competitive operational model: in this the Brainz Inc. usually will undertake the newly created (Murphy, K. J, 1993,pp.273-315) innovative operational model on which the model is based on the profit attainability and achieving of Brainz Inc. objective, since the proposed value is the customer service as well as the cost advantage. On the other hand the already recognized Brainz Inc. Company will enjoy two choices-of immediate reaction. They can either continue with the already employed operational model or (Sapienza, H. J, 1994,pp.1618-163) if necessary they can create even better operating model to face the threat of new entrants in the market. From the above discussion it can be made clear that how does the operation of the work is important and how easily it can be achieved from the organization by the CEO. KEY PERFORMING INDICATORS (KPIs) Adnan Alsilami, I have been appointed as the CEO of Brainz Inc., whose mission statement is to Igniting brands (Murphy, K. J, 1993,pp.273-315) in ways that generate impact and excitement. I have to perform certain KEY PERFORMING INDICATORS (KPIs) roles to archive companys objective and goal. FINANCIAL: It is not for any surprise that I have to make a strong focus on the financial results, whereby insuring all KPIs are achieved effectively and efficiently, where I have to focus more on Net Incomes of the Brainz Inc. where few return on investment will be used. I have to make lots of emphasis on cash management and cost control that is the prime functioning of CEO. MARKETING: I have to make strong recommendations on marketing and PR targets (where brand awareness of our company, targets those are favored, stakeholders interest in the company needs to be developed). I will watch sales number; whenever there is a change in the revenue (Healy, P. M., 1987,pp. 7-34) it is important to have immediate warning in the organization in order to control risk factors. LEADERSHIP: It is important for me to enhance leadership skills and capabilities in the employees of organization so (Healy, P. M., 1987,pp. 7-34) that leadership related issues are solved the command I given to a immediate lower position of CEO, It is very important for me to spend my maximum time in solving these issues. Provide relevant and accurate information The entire discussion in board highly depends on the information provided by CEO. It is important to have (Bushman, R. M., 1996,pp. 161-193) quality and quantity information that has to be delivered to the board so that no relevant as well as accurate information is circulated. The biggest challenge for me will be to provide right information to Abhijit Barthakur (CIO), Jagdish Patil (CTO), Abdul Ahmed E Yakub (CNO), Nafiu Abdulrahman (CKO), Auwal Mohammad (COO) who are the board members of Brainz Inc Company. STRATEGIC PLANNING AND DECISION MAKING The operational along with strategic planning decisions that I will make are entirely based on the assumption; it is again a challenge for me because assumptions made from the past are not (Bushman, R. M., 1996,pp. 161-193) accurate as compared with the future happening. It is very easy to loose credibility with the board while making unrealistic decisions, its important to have focus on decisions. BUDGET AND COST DISTRIBUTION DECISIONS With the board members important and most essential characteristic of mine is to make decisions about the budget which means allocation of cost in different department where CKO, CFO, COO, CTO, CNO will actively participate while laying their strategic (Bushman, R. M., 1996,pp. 161-193) plans for achieving goals of the company as We plan to build strong brand profiles through innovative and ground breaking ideas. By creating buzz and affinity, we are going to infuse traits of innovation and energy into it PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS Once the plans are laid an implemented, the most important part is to make performance analysis (Murphy, K. J, 1993,pp.273-315) of every department of the Brainz Inc. So that wherever there is any inefficiency it can be solved and the departments those are maximizing the profits. (ref. HSC22 q4. HSC21 q 4,5. Reporting, recording and confidentiality ââ¬â The Data Protection Act 1998 relates to information held about an individual. This includes medical records or social services files ââ¬â anything which is personal data (facts and opinions about an individual).All information, however it is stored, is subject to the rules laid down in the Act. Anyone processing personal data must comply with the eight principles of good practice. The Data must be: 1. Fairly and lawfully processed 2. Used for limited purposes 3. Not excessive but adequate and relevant 4. Not kept for longer than necessary 5. Accurate 6. Kept secure 7. processed taking into account the individuals rights 8. Not tran sferred to another country that cannot maintain the confidentiality of the information.Individuals are entitled to see information about themselves, but they cannot see any part of their record which relates to someone else. Individuals are entitled to be told if any personal information is held about them. Health and safety ââ¬â The HSE (Health and Safety Executive) is the UK government body responsible for enforcing health and safety at work legislation. The HSE also plays a major role in producing advice on health and safety issues, and guidance on relevant legislation. However, if you establish strong foundations for decision making, generate good alternatives, evaluate these alternatives rigorously, and then check your decision-making process, you will improve the quality of your decisions.Recording/reporting compliments and complaints ââ¬â My aim is to listen to and act on the views and concerns of Individuals and to encourage discussion and action on issues raised before they develop into problems and formal complaints. My management welcome comments and suggestions from Individuals and their representatives, friends and relatives. Positive comments help to build on successes, but we can also learn from comments which are critical. It is best to look into all comments or complaints as quickly as possible and to provide a satisfactory resp onse.Dealing with suspicions of disclosure of danger, harm and abuse ââ¬â Information about abuse I suspect, or situations I am working with which are ââ¬Ëhigh riskââ¬â¢, must be recorded after being reported to my supervisor. My supervisor will be responsible for passing on the information, if necessary. Sometimes my information may need to be included in an individualââ¬â¢s plan of care or personal records, particularly if I have noticed a change in the way he or she is cared for, or if his/her behaviour could be an ââ¬Ëearly warningââ¬â¢ that the care team need to be especially observant.My workplace may have a special report form for recording causes for concern. If not, i should write my report, making sure I include the following: â⬠¢What happened to make me concerned â⬠¢Who I am concerned about â⬠¢Whether this links to anything I have noticed previously â⬠¢What needs to happen next I should discuss my report and my concerns with my superviso r and colleagues. I must report anything unusual that I notice, even if I think it is too small to be important. It is the small details which make the whole picture.
